Common questions

The camera does not read the barcode

Type the digits under the barcode into the field below the camera; every result is the same either way. Curved bottles and shrink-wrap are the usual culprits. If the camera never starts, Aisle tells you why in the viewfinder and offers the settings page when it is a permission.

"Aisle does not know this product yet"

The catalogue is built on Open Food Facts and grows with every scan. Tap Add this product, copy the values from the pack, and the next shopper will find it. You can photograph the nutrition table and Aisle will read the numbers for you to check.

"Not enough data to judge"

The product is in the catalogue but its nutrition declaration has gaps. Aisle refuses to score what it cannot stand behind rather than showing a number that looks as confident as a real one.

Why will Aisle not compare these two products?

Because it could not confirm they are the same kind of food, and a verdict between a yoghurt and a cereal would not mean anything. It still shows both scores and the numbers so you can judge for yourself.

Where is the score coming from?

Tap Why this score? on any result. Every point is named, the method version is printed, and the same product with the same profile gives the same number on every phone. No brand can pay to change it.

Deleting my data

With an account: the account screen in the app exports or deletes everything, and tells you first what survives. Without an account: reset your usage id from the profile screen, or send it to us and we delete the events behind it. Details in the privacy notice.

Reporting a wrong value

If a product's numbers disagree with its pack, send us the barcode and a photo of the label. Product data comes from a shared open catalogue and corrections benefit everybody who uses it.
